INTERNATIONAL FOOD DAY
The international food day is a day of action dedicated to tackling global hunger. Held annually on 6th October, people from around the world come together to declare their commitment to eradicate worldwide hunger from our lifetime.
In celebrating the international food day, events are organized in over 150 countries across the world, making it one of the most celebrated days of the United Nations (U.N) calendar. These events promote worldwide awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger and for the need to ensure food security and balanced diets for all. The focus of international food day is that food is a basic and fundamental human right, yet in a world of billions, 805 million people worldwide live with chronic hunger with 60% of women and almost 5 million children under the age of five dying of malnutrition related diseases every day.

It is on the basis of the above that the Foreign Language Department of Yukselen College is organizing international food day to showcase traditional foods from Turkey, England, as well as Germany, by engaging both students and parents in the process to create their awareness also on the importance of observing such a day.
